Ford All-Electric Vehicles FAQs
What Affects the Range of Ford All-Electric Vehicles?
Just as the distance you can travel on a full tank of gas is affected by certain factors, the same is true for all-electric vehicles. The two most common reasons the range of an all-electric vehicle's battery is reduced are heavy acceleration and climate.
Heavy acceleration: Traveling at high speeds along an interstate uses more power than cruising along a downtown boulevard. To maximize battery range, accelerate gradually and keep speed constant.
Climate: Extremely hot or cold weather conditions may often reduce battery range. In addition, a vehicle's heater and air conditioner pull from the battery which may reduce overall battery power.
Unlike gas-powered vehicles, an all-electric vehicle offers a unique bonus in that it can recapture some of its own used energy.
Regenerative braking: An all-electric vehicle recharges its battery system by capturing the energy used when the brakes are applied. Gradual braking can maximize the regenerative braking process and help your vehicle recover up to 90 percent of the energy used.
Can Ford All-Electric Vehicles Use Rapid Chargers?
Every Ford all-electric vehicle model can be charged using a rapid charger. And to make charging while on the road simple and easy, Ford customers have access to the Blue Ovalâ„¢ Charge Network. With over 19,500 charging stations-more than any other automotive manufacturer in North America-Ford has created the largest public charging network in the country.
